Amanda Bynes, the former child actress, is currently under a psychiatric hold that has been extended for at least another week, according to sources with direct knowledge. TMZ reported that Bynes remains hospitalized in Los Angeles and is seriously focusing on her mental health.
The actress has reportedly been withdrawn, not talking to anyone close to her, and it is unclear if she can recall the days she spent wandering the streets of L.A., sometimes unclothed and alone. Bynes was placed on a psychiatric hold last weekend after being found walking near downtown L.A. without clothes.
It is believed that Bynes may have been living on the streets for several days, as her car was towed in Long Beach on March 15, approximately 40 miles from her home. Those around her suspect she was navigating the city using public transportation and hitchhiking. When her car was towed, it was out of gas, and Bynes did not have a cell phone with her.
Sources indicate that Bynes has previously left her house and walked for miles, leading those around her to believe she was in a manic phase. In the meantime, her ex-fiancé, Paul Michael, claims he hasn’t lived with Bynes since January. She was last seen at the L.A.-area apartment they once shared just days before her car was towed.
As of now, there is no plan in place for Bynes’ future after she leaves the psychiatric facility, as she is not communicating with anyone around her. Her hospital stay could be extended to 30 days if she doesn’t show signs of improvement soon.
Bynes’ conservatorship was terminated just over a year ago, but there are currently no plans to reinstate it. For now, the focus remains on her recovery and well-being.
