(The Herald Post) – Late Monday evening, Apple Inc. confirmed via its status page that its music service was experiencing issues, leaving thousands of users unable to access Apple Music, Apple Music Radio, and iTunes Match. Reports from users and outage tracking website Downdetector.com indicated that the impact went beyond just music services, affecting the Apple store, support services, and even Apple News.
Downdetector.com’s data showed that during the peak of the outage, more than 3,300 users reported issues with streaming Apple Music, while nearly 2,200 reported problems with the App Store in the United States. Apple’s official status page corroborated these reports, acknowledging an ongoing “outage” for Apple Music, Apple Music Radio, and iTunes Match. Apple News was also reportedly facing issues according to the status page.
Apple has yet to respond to a Reuters request for comment on the cause of the outage and whether other services were impacted, as suggested by Downdetector. The outage tracking website compiles status reports from various sources, including user-submitted errors on its platform, indicating that the actual number of affected users may be even larger than reported.
