Hollywood A-lister Brad Pitt has demonstrated his kindness and generosity by allowing an elderly neighbor to live rent-free in his Los Angeles mansion until the man’s passing at the age of 105. The 59-year-old ‘Fight Club’ actor originally purchased his Los Feliz home in 1994 for a reported $1.7 million. Over the years, he expanded his estate by acquiring neighboring properties whenever they became available.
The story of Pitt’s generous act came to light when ‘Elvira, Mistress of the Dark’ star Cassandra Peterson spoke with PEOPLE.com. Peterson, who sold the original home to Pitt, shared that the actor had bought around 22 houses in total, each contiguous to the edge of his property.
One such purchase was the home of a widower named John, who was in his early 90s. Upon acquiring the property, Pitt struck a deal with John, allowing him to live in the house rent-free until his death. John went on to live in the home until he passed away at the age of 105.
Peterson humorously recalled, “I imagine Brad was thinking well, you know, he can live there till he dies, which might be any minute now.” The actress herself moved to a nearby house after selling the original property to Pitt, and she mentioned that they often had friendly chats. Peterson even recounted a memorable moment when she almost fainted after catching a glimpse of Pitt working out shirtless in his garage.
Last month, Brad Pitt sold his Los Angeles estate for a reported $40 million. He had previously resided there with his ex-wife, Angelina Jolie, and their children before the couple’s separation in 2016. During his time at the estate, Pitt had acquired four surrounding properties, adding a skate park, tennis court, koi pond, and multiple swimming pools to the grounds.
A source told Etonline.com at the time of the sale, “Brad Pitt has sold his Los Feliz home for around the asking price of $40 million. The deal was done off-market.” This heartwarming story serves as a testament to the kindness and compassion that can be found even among Hollywood’s most celebrated stars.
