Selena Gomez is urging her fans and followers to calm down after learning about the intense criticism and negativity that Hailey Baldwin has been facing on social media. On March 24, the singer and actress took to her Instagram Story to address the issue, revealing that Hailey had reached out to her about receiving death threats and hateful messages.
Gomez emphasized that she does not support any form of bullying or hate, stating, “This isn’t what I stand for. No one should have to experience hate or bullying. I’ve always advocated for kindness and really want this to all stop.”
Hailey Baldwin, who is married to Justin Bieber, Selena’s ex-boyfriend, has been dealing with a deluge of negative comments on social media since Gomez’s statement addressing rumors that Baldwin and friend Kylie Jenner were throwing shade at her. Selena called the speculation “unnecessary” in a February 22 TikTok remark, and now she wants the world to know that she and Hailey are not rivals.
In another recent incident, Selena found herself caught up in drama with Hailey when she responded to a resurfaced video of Baldwin mocking her close friend Taylor Swift. Despite the incident, Gomez took a break from social media, stating that she was “too old for this,” but she later returned with a makeup tutorial, expressing her gratitude and love for her fans.
Hailey has also spoken about the criticism she often receives regarding her relationship with Bieber. In a September interview on Call Her Daddy, she said, “A lot of the hate and the perpetuation comes from like, ‘Oh, you stole [Justin].’ And I guess maybe that just comes from the fact that they wished he had ended up with somebody else. And that’s fine. You can wish that all you want, but that’s just not the case.” Hailey also mentioned that she has nothing but “love” for Selena Gomez.
